'Alan Wake' is a psychological action thriller game written by Sam Lake and developed by Remedy Entertainment that follows the story of a novel writer and his wife Alice. Both of them travel to the idyllic town of Bright Falls, located in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.
But Alan has a problem: he's in a writer's block for more than two years. Alice thought this journey would help him recover his creative flow.

However, they ignored that Bright Falls hid an ancient, dark secret and the seemingly calm cabin they arrived to wasn't what it looked like...

Alan, shortly after arriving, argues with Alice about her true intentions behind their stay in Cauldron Lake. This lead to a far worse consequence Alan could have ever imagined: Alice dissapeared in the immense lake in front of his eyes. His only motivation now is to save her and discover the mystery behind the lake and Bright Falls, even at the cost of his own safety.

Located in Washington, Bright Falls is a town founded in the XIX century and became a relevant spot when the Bright Falls Mining Company opened in 1878. It is nicknamed by the locals as Night Springs (a popular horror TV show) given the similarities between the towns' mystery surrounding their past and the isolated nature of both.

One of the town's main attraction is the Deerfest, an anual event celebrated between September 15-18. There's a tradition to have candles lit in the church every night in September until Deerfest ends.
